The problem of defining user profiles has been a research issue since a long time; user profiles are employed in a variety of applications, including Information Filtering and Information Retrieval. In particular, considering the Information Retrieval task, user profiles are functional to the definition of approaches to Personalized search, which is aimed at tailoring the search outcome to user...
متن کاملAn ontological hybrid recommender system for dealing with cold start problem
Recommender Systems ( ) are expected to suggest the accurate goods to the consumers. Cold start is the most important challenge for RSs. Recent hybrid s combine and . We introduce an ontological hybrid RS where the ontology has been employed in its part while improving the ontology structure by its part. In this paper, a new hybrid approach is proposed based on the combination of demog...

Information retrieval (IR) is a field that deals with storage and access to relevant information according to the user needs. The main goal of an Information Retrieval System (IRS) is to return to the user the most valuable documents in response to his queries. Classical models in IR are based on a general approach that meets the users invariably returning the same results for two users with th...
متن کاملBroccoli: Semantic Full-Text Search at your Fingertips
We present Broccoli, a fast and easy-to-use search engine for what we call semantic full-text search. Semantic full-text search combines the capabilities of standard full-text search and ontology search. The search operates on four kinds of objects: ordinary words (e.g. edible), classes (e.g. plants), instances (e.g. Broccoli), and relations (e.g. occurs-with or native-to). Queries are trees, w...
متن کاملA New Ontology-Based Approach for Human Activity Recognition from GPS Data
Mobile technologies have deployed a variety of Internet–based services via location based services. The adoption of these services by users has led to mammoth amounts of trajectory data. To use these services effectively, analysis of these kinds of data across different application domains is required in order to identify the activities that users might need to do in different places. Researche...
